Jinyi Ye
CS PhD Student @ USC | π Los Angeles
I am a second-year Computer Science PhD student at University of Southern California, co-advised by Professors Emilio Ferrara and Luca Luceri.
My research lies at the intersection of human-centered AI, computational social science, and natural language processing. My overarching vision is to build socially intelligent AI systems grounded in human behavior, while understanding how these systems, in turn, reshape our society. I design and evaluate multi-agent AI systems using large-scale agentic simulations and reinforcement learning to model human beliefs, cognition, and decision-making. In parallel, I empirically examine how AI technologies reshape the future of work, learning, and information ecosystems.
During and prior to my PhD, I spent two summers as a Research Intern at Microsoft, working across IDEAS, Microsoft Research, and Microsoft Research Asia. Previously, I received a joint M.S. in Data Science from Tsinghua University and USC, and dual B.A. degrees in Economics and Communication. Outside of research, I am a pre-professionally trained ballet dancer and have performed with the SC Ballet Company.
